I am Puerto Rican
it is in my blood
in my walk
in my heart
it is me inside and out
I am Puerto Rican
it is how I think
it is in these genes that make me up
it is how I dance
and what makes me stay strong
it is why I stay alive.
Today was the Puerto Rican Day Parade
a day met by cheer, great music, and lovely weather
the sun beamed against the many lined up throughout Fifth Avenue in Manhattan
Puerto Ricans dance and laughed
all with one thing in mind:
Puerto Rico, la Isla del Encanto
